Happy's Endings...

want to see through life, the way we do through a Sunglass. But is that possible. Can we read people's minds? Can we possibly smile at the person and say, "dude, you are lying"!
How would life be, if we could read what is in store in the next minute, not the whole life. Funny, isn't it? Almost every one of us has thought about this aspect so many times in our life. even now, when you were reading the earlier lines, I am sure you were thinking, "Well, he thinks he is spilling the beans about this particular aspect of everyone's life". Sorry, I am not trying to do that. I am in a state of mind, where I want to see things the way they really are and say, "Good, things are all fine. Now I don' have to worry about anything."
I always yearn for an ideal world, and almost everyone of us do. And I wont stop at that. I further think and come to a conclusion that life should be the way it is, I dont have any rights to think that God has not given me the things which I badly want in life. I feel that is where the real thrill lies. Otherwise where is the need to lead the life.
Funnily, all of us think this way, but never stop from thinking about the ideal world and ideal life. A Happy Ending. Well, that Happy Ending can happen only in stories, films. I still wish.
Happy's Endings!

Lost in Translation

This piece of write up about Lost in Translation is here for you to read.

And I must say that I watched another movie after watching and writing about Lost In Translation and before putting it in here. That is Changeling. It is one wonderful movie I have ever seen I must say. Lost in Translation is a bit less lovely when compared to Changeling. It is just an amazing movie. I am not finding time to write down thin

gs which made me like that movie, apart from the storyline and of course Angelina in the movie.

Let me not talk much about Changeling here. Cos this place belongs to someone else! Here you go...

It is a six year old movie. But it was one of the best movies which were produced in 2003 I must say*. It was one of the main contenders for the coveted Academy Awards that year, though I do not clearly remember how many Oscars it had won in that year.

But now I am sure it is one movie which is worth the share of publicity it got.

Lost in Translation.

This movie has more things unsaid than said in the whole duration of 1 hour fourty five minutes of so. The protagonist Harris is the eye of the international tourist, specifically the US citizen in Japan. Any outsider will see the country through Harris' eyes.

And well, I am sure anyone will fall for Scarlett Johansson, who played the role of Charlotte in the movie. She looks her best in the movie I must say.

Bill Murray, playing Bob Harris, the superstar from Hollywood, looks like the stereotypical heroes anyone can expects would be. But what touches one’s soul is the way the life story of that person is told without rolling out much of the story of his life. Director's technique of not showing his family and telling the story without them works. And the two lives of Charlotte and Bob are unfolded in a slow, but very natural manner. How both are dissatisfied with their married life, one in his 50s while the other in her mid twenties. One has seen almost 25 years of married life while the other is only of 25 years and married just an year ago.

Bill Murray captivates us by his acting, while Scarlett’s one look is enough! Am I sounding a bit lenient towards her? Well, please watch the movie and you will all nod your heads in agreement!

The director doesn’t lose out anything untold in translation; hence the movie becomes one of your favorites at the end of watching it. The beauty lies in the way the blending of the day today lives in the unknown land for them and the way the affection between two souls grows day by day is done.

The affection towards both the characters grows constantly throughout the movie, just like both of them slowly come nearer. They both might be ages apart, generations apart. But what they find in each other looks like a solace in the middle of nowhere, where both of them don’t have anyone to share their feelings with. Is that what they call finding an oasis in the middle of a dessert? May be so. But the director shows them catching up with each other every time possible, morning, day, evening , night. But the affection does not have a stereotypical angle to it. They end up sleeping in the same bed, but not like how you think! At least this looks very dissimilar to any other Hollywood movie.

So, what is it between them which is building up? Love? Just affection? Are they just sharing their problems with each other? What is it?

The director does not have any intentions of spelling it out.

But I am fine with the way the movie has ended. That’s what I liked in the movie.

Please watch and tell me how you found it!

(*any disputes on this are welcome and they may very well be true. Because this is just my opinion.)

Rainy days Are Here!

Going out on a rainy day is very good if you are sure of reaching home without any trouble. But if you are stuck in the rain and have no way out but to wait and wait and wait, then it is not a good thing at all. But well, rainy days are here people! So, go enjoy!
Go enjoy!
I remem
ber very vividly of going out in the rain last year somewhere the same time. The rain had just started embarging on the Bangalore skies and that was a scene to see. The Cubbon Park was beautiful to see and the rains had given a beautiful outlook to the ever beautiful Vidhana Soudha. Searching for a beautiful moment here and there in that rains isn't a difficult task. Because, the
rain turns everything around you beautiful. Asphalted roads may not give us muc
h choice to smell the scent of the first rain falling onto the mud, but even there, it is a pleasure to see it rain and fall to the ground.
The camera was searching for something special. It was a couple which was walking hand in hand in the cubbon park, with no umbrella. May be that couple must have thought this was the best moment to cherish, to get wet in the rain with someone you want to live with for the rest of your lives. Isn't that romantic?
We had some more moments in store for us. A kid trying to sail his paper boat in
front of the Vidhana Soudha. What a sight. I would love to be doing that again, to go back to my childhood days!
The pictures you see and the video you have with this post are just about what I am going to tell next. The rain I witnessed back in my native, Badekkila. Rains are a commonplace in Dakshina Kannada after the month of March. There should at least be one rain once in a week after that month. Or else, the whole coastal belt will start wondering what is wrong with the Maleraya (The Rain God) this time around?
Those rain drops you see are falling on the ground in front of my house! Badekkila is where I belong to and got a chance to see the first rains of the year after a very long time!
It was a moment of joy, a moment I would want to relive again and again in my life. April 12, 2009, 4 O'clock in the evening.
Those sweaty days were all forgotten, which we had experienced in the previous 4 days of the trip to the native.
But I hear the rains have started falling down more profusely these days, but no respite in sight for the hot days there.
Even the good ole cool days are not going to be there in Bangalore too Ii guess. The summer has been very hot and hotter than the previous years which I was here. Luckily, the rains have dawned on the Bangalore skies and hopefully temperature will come down in the coming days. May we ask God for that!

GO VOTE!

Eighteen years and above only.
Feels good to be in that clan isn't it? But is that all what it means? Being able to go watch an A rated movie, to go to a pub or a bar and drink bottoms up and walk freely around the city late in the night.
It would have been fine if that was the case. But, we need some more things in life. We need to be more responsible they say. Those again, who belong to 'our' clan, those who have crossed eighteen. Why did they tell it, why did 'they' give us so much of freedom, how are we able to enjoy all this when I am sure most of the other countries do not give so much freedom to their young fellas.
It is fun preaching, while not easy at all to follow what we say.
There is a lot of talk happening as to Shut up and Vote and Go Vote etc., but all I would say is that, if we want the freedom that we always enjoy, we have the responsibility to go vote too.
GO VOTE!

Catching them Young...

They need to catch them young. So, the political parties are trying hard to catch the youth online. I got a chance to go through a survey that was done by a company here in Bangalore.

It all started when Obama created history in the US by winning the election, that too attracting more than 67% of them online to check the details of the campaign. Even one of the major announcements by Obama during the campaigning process was online it seems. That sounds too far away for us. That’s not because we are computer illiterates. That’s majorly since our political parties are not ready for such a battle online. The election process is underway and the campaigning is already in full swing all across the country.

BJP has in fact tried to replicate what Obama had tried and tested there in the US. He had in turn succeeded, but BJP doesn’t seem to be in the same place. May be because the party has tried it, and not done a good job in that. It would have fared better if it had replicated it, if not bettering it in its implementation.

Here is how it is going with BJP. The party’s or the NDA’s Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani’s website advertisements are present in almost all the major websites and blogs from India. They are so well publicised there and the online users are logging in according to the survey. But they don’t seem to be very impressed with the way the things have been put there. Is this because of the age factor? Is this since the online crowd is usually around 15-35 and they don’t relate to a politician of around 81 years? May not be, thinks the CEO of Buzzgain, the company that has tracked the way more than 1.2 million Indian bloggers have been talking about politics. ‘It’s got nothing to do with the age, rather it depends on how well you communicate with the online brigade. Are you listening to them? Are you reacting to what they are talking about you online? Is the candidate replying to the questions posed to him online? These factors determine how you are accepted there’ Mukund Mohan, CEO, Buzzgain says.

Well, thats exactly what I was talking about. There is a thin line between copying something or just blindly following just because it has worked for someone. Even if one copies someone’s idea, the possibility of it working for them is there. But not there when one just does it and does for the heck of it. But it is too early to comment on all that. May be this will work for the party and L K Advani in the long run or in the manner in which it will strengthen what the online Indian thinks about them. But, right now things are not very good for them.

One more thing that intrigued me is that the Indian online brigade does not really want to be politically active. They might talk about it or not, they are not as active as their counterparts in the US. The number of people in the US want to discuss or debate politics is more. May be Advani’s ideas wont work because of this factor. Or even the low internet penetration in the country, which still hovers between 5-10% of the population could be a reason.

But, a crowd of more than 43 million, that is young and active online is a very important bit to talk to.

The way the political leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh are present online is ignorable. Rather, they have some websites which are inferior in quality and may not work for them at all. They look more like basic HTML pages while their BJP counterparts have already spent quite a lot for the looks and feel of a 2.0 website.

Mukund Mohan adds one more point, and he has a point, ‘What we see is that it is more effective when anyone gets the opinion from who he knows. So, if a third person comes and tells you to vote for him, it is unlikely that you will take it up.’

Last general elections saw the foray of new trend in politics, sending SMSes asking for votes. This time Obama factor has made the parties here trying to catch up with the online brigade. But, my thinking is that, various issues like lower internet penetration, less inclination by the online users towards politics might dent the plans by the parties. Yet, the days to come will have some interesting battles to see online.

(A company into the analysis of online trends, Buzzgain has come out with a survey that shows how the online India is talking politics. Over 1.2 million blogs, microblogs and news sources gave a picture as to what the online India is talking. The highlights of the survey:

  • L K Advani scores over others in terms of site visit.
  • Congress takes the cake in terms of Voice of the online community.
  • Youth not sure of which party to vote.
  • P Chidambaram is favorite than Rahul Gandhi.)

A pilgrimage...

The temple entrance at Ghati Subrahmanya, a Subrahmanya temple some 15 kms from Doddaballapur. A beautiful place, not just a pilgrimage, but also a wonderful tourist spot I must say. Its just compellingly beautiful.
The Gopura (main tower). The situation was just perfect, the clear sky with those beautiful lines of clouds and the Gopura, and then the Subrahmanya's hood and the twig... It couldn't have been better.

The above three photos are, wow. Yes. For me at least. I love them since they have this element of beauty in it. They are simple. They were taken with just one click. But I love it, for, they have one empty sky  and the gopura (the tower) showcasing as to how the pinacle can be reached and you get the clear sky or the ultimate wisdom in life.

Finally, me with the Gopura (tower) in the background. Self photography. Never mind the expression on my face.
Photo credits: My new Nokia 5800 eXpressMusic Phone!
I like the phone, its capabilities as a touch phone and other features. But I hate it for its bad battery life. Oh, this is not the occassion for all that. I shall come back and shall talk it over to you. What say?
Comments are seeked and yearned for

Oh Wow... That Head Massage!

The head massage, or so to say a trailer to it, left me craving for more. I had gone for a haircut just last week after a lot of speculation and confusion over whether I should have long hair or a short hair. Finally decided for the latter.
But the matter of discussion is not the hair cut, since it is a commonplace for anybody! That beautiful experience of a long and elaborate head massage has its own effect on you. Believe me; one will stop thinking about everything in this world.
A little bit of oil,(preferably olive!), an experienced hand giving that divine massage. These two and only these two can be enough to rejuvenate one’s mind and soul. All the stress in life washed off and a new begging sees the dawn! That’s not surreal world, but the magic of a good head massage. I don’t have words to describe the beauty of a body massage; perhaps, the main reason can also be that I haven’t had one yet.
What’s that makes one live in tranquility when the head massage is given to him/her? is it the oil that used the reason? Or is it the hand that is giving the massage the reason? Or is it your mind? Simply put, it’s the combination of all these three. According to me, its majorly the person who’s getting the massage is the reason! One may find this ridiculous. But this is the fact with me at least. If at all you are at a beautiful place, with wonderful, serene surrounding, without a proper mindset to enjoy it. Would you be appreciating that wonderful atmosphere? The answer definitely would be a no.
Now the same answer again. It is you who is the major factor for that wonderful massage to take shape in its full stride.
If that hand starts moving slowly on the head, closely moving on the hair, giving that titillating effect, so that one feels he is on cloud nine.
I am hoping with all earnestness that the craving will turn out to be a reality!

Fun Bhari- Strawberry!

Do you think you can lure people by making a handful of muscle flexing male-models on the ramp, by removing their, jackets, T-shirts and the vests one-by-one?

Well, the people behind the Lux's marketing strategy really thought so. That's how they had an event launching the new strawberry-flavoured Lux soap. The most famous soap of Bollywood didn't getaway from that too. Dino Morea was here in town to taste the specially made strawberry falovoured icecram in collaboration with Kwality Walls.

And all the models were not at all modest when they were asked why they started that oh-not-here-please striptease right on the ramp. One couldn't help not thinking if he had come to a female-only, male striptease show. Well, sadly, there were only a few female souls trying to figure out what's happening. Coming back to the honest talk by the models, they were supposedly trying to get over the temptation of seeing women who have used the new Strawberry Flavoured Lux Soap.

Oh Come-on.

Nobody seemed an inch impressed by the show. Yet, Dino, and the two Priyanka Chopra cutouts gave respite! But, Dino's desperateness to get into the super-star status seemed apparent when he quipped that he wanted to pose bathing in the bathtub full of roses like King Khan in the Lux ad! Oh, my Gosh!

The event had its own tale of troubles before it was on roll. The rain which lashed on the Bangalore city without any warning caught the event organizers unawares. All the preparations by the beautiful poolside of The Leela Palace washed away when the rain was hit almost right before the programme was about to start. Luckily, the Grand Ballroom played host.

Strawberry flavoured ice-cream tasted good, but, Dino had better ideas. "I always fantasised to bite a irresistibly smelling soap. If it is strawberry flavoured, how could you help but go try it out right away."

Dino had another Raaz to share. He has been a fan of Lux since his childhood, he claims. Though one kept wondering if it was another marketing trick, Dino adds himself saying, "The Strawberry flavour is amazing. This is not a marketing trick, huh."

Don't know if it was one or not. But The crazy souls in the marketing departments at Lux have worked hard in putting these two items together and make a powerful campaign of Soap and ice cream's coming together. Its just out in the market. You and I like it or not. To know that, Thoda wait karna padega.

GAS who came to town!

There was glitter, glamour, and all that one could ask for in a mega launch of a special line of clothes by an international brand. When it is GAS, the event has to be more than just colourful. The event had created too much noise, not simply since it’s GAS, but it had the four glittering models, who had came all the way to town just for the launch.
It’s not always that the Bangalore crowd gets to see four Indian Supermodels on the same ramp. Carol Gracias, Bhawna Sharma, Inder Bajwa and Rajneesh Duggal walked down the ramp along with other Bangalorean models. Bangalore’s very own Fashion Guru Prasad Bidappa was once again seen choreographing the show. And everybody knows, Bangalore does not have any better option than him!
Italy is synonymous with the designs. Not just the clothing line which was launched on Friday. The pretty mini car parked outside the Hotel Grand Ashoka caught everyone’s attention. One should admire the way the Spring/Summer collection and the Peroni brand launch was interspersed in the same event. What an idea! Lots of beer to drink into and loads of gossiping around before the show started. Soon, it became one night to remember.
There was fervour and enthusiasm when it looked like flowers, fragrances and colours of an English country garden came on the ramp. GAS’ new range has it all. While the trademark denim was omnipresent, the green and the pink colour ruled the place. While VJ Anusha seen with the green top herself, one could not wait to say that this summer indeed is greener than ever! Even the things are looking green since new brands like GAS, bossini, MANGO are already in own with their standalone stores. What’s next was the question most of the guests had in their mind.
No matter what, the brands also bring along a lot of fun for the party craving crowd of Bangalore. What say?
(In the pic: Inder Bajwa, Carol Gracias, Bhawna Sharma; Rajneesh Duggal pic stolen from: Times of India: Bangalore Times)
(This is what I felt like srcibbling, when I attended the GAS fashion show)

Well... Is all well?

Is everything well? Has this question made you wonder if the life is going in the proper path?
I think nobody would have an answer to this question. I am also sure that nobody knows what lies in his destiny. These arguments might seem very archaic to some, but this is the reality of life boss.
For your information, I didn't know that I would be sitting on this particular chair, at this particular time at this particular place. But, yes, it is happening. Am I content about what I am writing here. I think I am, since this is the way it should have been. But this doesn't happen always like this.
We are not satisfied with what's happening in life. It has to happen the way we want it to be. But, why is it so? I too don't know...
Let me think some more about this!
